If you’re in your last semester of school, you’ve probably been thinking about the iconic graduation photos that come along with being a Badger. College graduation photos mark an the most important chapter of your life closing and the best one starting.
This post is here to help you plan your college graduation photos!
My Favorite UW-Madison Locations

Bascom Hill and Old Abe
We all have been personally victimized by walking up Bascom Hill whether it’s been in a hurry with your calves burning, or a slow walk pretending you’re not struggling. Bascom is what you think of when you think of UW-Madison. It’s iconic, and makes for the perfect background for graduation photos. If you’re feeling really bold, hop on up on Abe and sit on his lap!
The Wisconsin State Capitol
The capitol photographs absolutely beautifully! The stone offers the perfect backdrop! If the weather is on our side, the famous tulips lining the sidewalks will be blooming!
The Memorial Union Terrace
Who hasn’t sat their butt on the iconic sunburst chairs or thought about how to steal one a time or two? It’s the iconic place of where spring ends and fall begins between the ice-cold beer and ice cream, and seeing how long you can snag a table before they put the chairs away for the season.

Things to Bring
- The Essentials – Classic photos entail your cap and gown, but don’t forget your cap tassel, and academic/athletic or frat/sorority stoles. You don’t have to wear them for every single photo, but I’m sure mom would like to be able to boast about your accomplishments 😉
- Champagne – The shaking of a bottle of champagne with Bucky and Abe behind you will never get old for me! It’s one of my favorite parts of grad sessions! When going over the plan for the session, I always choose to do the champagne pop last, unless we’re moving locations. This way, if it gets on your clothes, or gown, or even in your hair, it doesn’t mess up the rest of the photo session

All in all, I want this to be the best experience and a happy moment for you that you can remember long after you’ve walked across the stage!
